Amar on the phone with Mohammad, while the Saudi Arabian government holds his son hostage in front of him.
General Achmed Amar was a high-ranking general in Saudi Arabia which Hamri Fayeed and Mohammad Amad were from. He believed in Mohammad's cause and supported his attacks on the United States. Saudi Arabia's government was aware of his sponsorship of anti-American terrorism, but chose to conceal it and take no action against him in order to protect both him and the country itself.
Day 5[]
In his operation to use five suitcase nukes on American soil during Day 5, terrorist Mohammad Amad was acting on orders from General Amar. Until 1:00 PM, only three of the nukes had been used. The first use, at approximately 8:56 AM, was only partially successful, as they had managed to detonate it, but in the wrong location. The later two attempts, at approximately 10 AM and 1 PM, were entirely unsuccessful, thwarted by the personal efforts of Rick Jackson.
Mohammad had been taken into custody at around 2:00 pm, but he refused to lead FBI to the remaining suitcase nukes. Using a new approach to track down the nuclear bombs, FBI placed agents of Middle Eastern descent undercover as the "Al-Tahireen" terrorist cell sent by Amar. They staged an attack on the transport vehicle containing Mohammad, to deceive him into believing he had truly been broken out. When asked by the agent Jamal where the nukes were, however, Mohammad refused to cooperate until he got confirmation from Amar himself that they were indeed his men.
Amar was forced to make the call to Mohammad, falsely confirming the agents were his men. When he hesitated, his countrymen threatened his sons with firearms to keep him talking. As he spoke to Mohammad, he mentioned that he would send "Drazen" to America to help assist Mohammad.
Later, Arnold Robinson discovered that Amar relayed a personal signal to Mohammad that he was speaking under duress: "Drazen" referred to an old ally, who was captured and was tricked into leading authorities to stolen assault rifles. Rick attempted relay this message to Jamal, but was too late, and Mohammad managed to escape. Rick quickly found him on his own and covertly followed him to his safehouse, where he killed him, along with all of his men. The remaining two suitcase nukes were secured.
